The Bavarian car manufacturer launched a special edition of the new reworked (F90) model the BMW M5 Competition with a new specification, design and performance not only the fastest 5-series model ever made but also the one of the fastest BMW in the last decade.
The Idea of the new BMW M5 Competition
Behind the scene BMW M5 Competition model is to carter a small group of people they say for the one who already own a BMW M5 from the previous generations. The challenge the M-Power group of engineers they did a reworked BMW M5 from the F90 model with better specifications, driving capabilities and performance, not only to add more power and torque but to satisfy their costumers passion.
Exterior Design of the new BMW M5 Competition
In addition from the standard BMW M5 F90 model, this new reworked BMW M5 Competition model has plenty of changes in both interior and exterior materials.
For example the front high glass front grille, the new alloy black metallic wheels, black shiny glass mirrors, lift black glass spoiler on the trunk and on the rear section of the BMW M5 Competition is the black glass and glossy diffuser where the quad exhaust pipes are positioned.
The interested fact about this limited edition vehicles are the specified by the color, which they only come in one Frozen Dark Silver as they say or a satin or matte version.
Interior Design of the BMW M5 Competition
The BMW M5 Competition shares nearly same interior components and technology of the standard BMW M5 F90 like the Full Digital Display Dashboard, the Central I-Drive Touchscreen Digital Display, Multifunctional Steering Wheel where the F1 shifter are fitted with a M1 and M2 mark as well the Carbon fiber materials like the door trim, central dashboard and surroundings of the cockpit.
Many upgrades are also made inside the interior cabin with the M5 Competition logo like the illuminated seats, door trims, steering wheel and dashboard details.
Specifications of the BMW M5 Competition
The biggest upgrades are under the hood, the 4.4-liter Twin-Turbocharged M-Power V8 engine has now got the upgrade of 625 HP with 850 nm of torque. We know that this engine will be in the BMW M8 specifications but for the upgrade version we will see later on this year.
The specifications are right there on the track where the BMW M5 Competition goes from 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds thanks to the engineers that made an upgrade on the rear axle, in addition from the regular BMW M5 the Competition goes from 0-200 km/h in just 10.8 seconds which is three-tenths faster than the regular F90.
Powered by an ZF’s 8-Speed Automatic Gearbox the BMW M5 Competition is offering three driving modes, Comfort, Sport or Sport Plus. Upgrade in the body roll and suspension settings where the normal setup from the standard M5 F90 are improved the shocks, springs and the geometry where are specially tuned for the BMW M5 Competition model.
The anti-roll bars got thicker and the ball joints, but the one of the main influence is the rear axle which is noticeable sharper and more responsive than the standard setup of the BMW M5. The front and rear springs are also ten percent stiffer, which allows the BMW M5 Competition to get better grip in the most difficult corners.
