Geneva 2018: Ferrari presented the newest hyper-car named 488 -Pista!
Geneva Motor Show is where the novelties of the near future are, fastest, top-tech and even concepts.. This time the Italian manufacturer presented their newest model, with the most powerful V8 engine in the Maranello Marque’s history. Ferrari 488 Pista is the successor to Ferrari’s V8-engine special series – the 360 Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale.
Design of the Ferrari 488 pista
This new Ferrari 488 Pista weighs an impressive 90 kg less than the 488 GTB or specifically 1280 kg. Combined with the largest ever increased power in the Ferrari V8 series of production engines, sets a highest benchmark for Ferrari’s V8 sports cars and is an extreme evolution of the turbo unit that won the overall International Engine of the Year award titles in both 2016 and 2017.
For the first time in production of Ferrari vehicles the design of the Ferrari 488 Pista will have carbon-fiber bonnet as standard, like a carbon-fiber front and rear bumper as well the rear spoiler, as an option they offer a 20 inch full carbon-fiber rims in addition to have a lighter material components, will drastically improve the handling of the vehicle.
The vehicle dynamics were designed to enhance the maximum driving pleasure and make the car’s full potential available to all drivers. The main objective was to make the car’s performance on the top limit, easier to reach, control and improve handling then his predecessors the 360 Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale.
Specifications and Drivetrain Technology for Ferrari 488 pista
This 4.0 liter V8 engine provides 720 hp at 8000 rpm, with the highest power output in its class, a top speed of 340 km/h and an acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 2.85 seconds. Powered with the F1 gearbox and the Turbo that has no lag at all, this Ferrari 488 Pista will conquer the speedy road and sharp corners.
In order to increase downforce engineers developed a new prominent rear end diffuser together with the rear spoiler that has been modeled into the body. To balance the downforce into the rear an s shaped F1 air Duct, has been craft into the bonnet.
The synergies between the mechanical set-up of the Ferrari 488 Pista and the Electronic Dynamic Controls, integrated into version 6 of the Side-Slip Angle Control system. SSC 6.0 has the following sport system: E-Diff3, F1-Trac, the Magnetorheological Suspension, for the first time ever, the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer. The FDE is basically a Ferrari software to adjust the brake pressure at the callipers.
For the sport enthusiasts the direct competitor Super Sport Car is the Lamborghini Huracan Performante with better drivetrain technology and increased power.
