Production and Development of the Hyundai Ioniq EV
Hyundai announced that they are planning to extend the electric range of the future vehicles, with their partners Kia Motors which they share multiply variety of engines and body structure, announced that they will now work on a designated electric platform as well in order to become even more competitive with various EV models.
The Hyundai Ioniq EV is sporty style liftback sedan with 5 seats, which is first presented in 2016 LA Auto Show, and it comes in tree different versions of green-powertrain there is a hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full electric.
Hyundai Ionic exterior it’s not an ordinary design and futuristic looking electric vehicle, as his competitors in the market the Ionic looks like a normal modern vehicle. It has very aerodynamic body and like nearly all the EV’s it has no grill on the front as well, front and rear LED headlights and backlights for decreasing energy consumption.
The storage in the Ionic is quite good, for those who need big boot and driving as a family sedan it is as big boot as the Tesla Model S model very practical for all kind of use, the back seats can be folded down and you will get a lot of space.
Hyundai Ioniq – Battery and Specification
Driving on highway taking all kind of curved roads you name it the Hyundai Ionic is ready for it, although is a EV it has a lithium-ion polymer battery pack of 28 kWh, that delivers an EPA-rated all-electric driving range of 124 miles or (200 km), well comparing to some electric vehicles in the same class it has much less driving range but worth the price.
The electric motor produces 88 kw or 120 hp with 295 nm of torque, and can be charged up to 80% in 33 minutes at 50 kW or in 24 minutes at 100 kW with a DC fast charging station.
Interior Style of the Hyundai Ioniq EV
Inside the cabin the Hyundai Ioniq EV is quite roomy for the driver and the front passenger although the back space is not that roomy as the front ones, it has lack of head space but decent knee room for average sized people, but as a family sedan car with middle-sized people you will love it.
The driving position is where all the fun starts for the Hyundai Ionic EV, great visibility thanks to the big windows, nice soft touch materials, the seats are very comfy and only the controls and switches in the Ioniq that are made from plastic, wont give you a high quality feeling, but as expected for its price range.
Technology and Equipment of the Hyundai Ioniq EV
Even the base model of the Hyundai Ionic EV comes with 7 inch touch screen, push button start, back up camera, colored screen dashboard, heated front seats, bluetooth, and automatic climate control.
For the fully loaded model and the extra price you will get , sunroof, adaptive cruise control, pre-colision braking, leather seats, wireless smart phone charging and navigation system. Well for the price range of the available EV on the market you will have lack of features in this model, cool seats, heated rare seats and self parking, blind spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
Behind the wheel there are shifter paddles to adjust the regenerating breaking system in term to regenerate power to the battery pack, 4 different levels for regenerating breaking system, the first level is like driving a normal EV and how you increase the level it will have more progressive breaking by just lifting the foot of the accelerator paddle.
