Hyundai brings the all-new subcompact/SUV the KONA

So far Hyundai where pretty successful in producing Crossovers and SUV’s with strong chassis smooth ride and sporty look, well the KONA is the new direct competitors, as a subcompact vehicle in the B-Segment, facing the French Citroen C3 Aircross knowing the fact that is a long year to go but, lets find out what Hyundai KONA has to offer, how it looks and most of all the overall performance.

Design of the Hyundai Kona

The all-new KONA features an ultra-rigid chassis at its core what Hyundai used to say a SUPERSTRUCTURE chassis, built by their own Advanced High Strength Steel in addition to be stiffer, stronger and lighter than the standard conventional steel. All this SUPERSTRUCTURE core has the advantage and benefits for greater safety, ride comfort and most of all the fuel economy.

The KONA has a beautiful big sized open front face (grille) divided in two shapes one wide open and the other upper one slimmer and smaller, sporty looking optional BiLED DRL headlights and LED fog lights and a muscular wheel arches. The Hyundai KONA come as standard with 16 inch alloy wheels but there is as an optional 17 inch and 18 inch alloy wheels to choose.

The Hyundai KONA has an overall length of 4,165 mm, wheelbase of 2,600 mm, width of 1,800 mm and height of 1,565 mm. The weight of the KONA depends of the engine side it goes from 1350 kg to 1507 kg curb weight. Like the newest subcompact vehicles the KONA has a dynamic look for the youth crowd but non the less it has the needs and the maximum practicality for a nice family car.

The KONA practicality and the overall enjoyment goes from the top to its boot as it comes with Roof Rack (with no adaptors required) as standard so the Cargo wont be a problem taking 5 people on a longer journey. The KONA luggage compartment shares a versatile cargo space for everyday needs if you have the need for a bigger boot the back seats can be folded down in 60/40 fitting stuff in all shape and sizes.

The back of the KONA supports a big progressive LED tail lights for enhancing the safety in every condition giving maximum brightness, and as a standard the KONA comes with a rear spoiler which gives an impressive, sporty look and confident subcompact/SUV style.

Interior

The inside cabin of the KONA is the best place to be, no matter if you are on the driver seat or the passenger back seat. The KONA provides a comfort seats with different color packages and features. For those who want to get the maximum of the KONA can have a front heated seats like the steering wheel as well.

There is 6-way power controlled adjustments supporting with 2-way lumbar for the maximum driving comfort on those longer journeys. There is an Automatic climate control, a power controlled sunroof, proximity key with a push-start button function and available infinity audio system.

On the central dash there is a 7 inch touch-display that comes as standard which let you connect your smart phone, using apps like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto,  rear parking feature and more. Hyundai offer a bigger 8 inch display as an option for those who don’t want to access their cellular data for use of a Navigation system, they would get a build-in free Navigation system.

The Hyundai KONA has technology and features like most of luxury car manufacturers which are recognizable building a vehicle with ton of tech, the KONA shares the most practical and for its class. Hyundai’s has its own security system which gives the KONA the most safest drive technology in the everyday urban traffic.

The innovated safety features begin from the Autonomous Emergency Breaking System, which automatically detects pedestrians passing through, Lane Departure Warning system in order to driving in a straight safe line in every condition, Ultra Rear Sensors for Detecting blind spot with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and more.

Specifications

The Hyundai KONA comes with four variety of engines for now, two petrol engines and that are available for now and two diesel engines for the benefit of the fuel efficiency, with two different power outputs later on in 2018.

  • 1.0 T-GDI is a 3-cyl 1-liter Turbocharged Petrol Engine with 120 hp and 172 nm of torque, this 3-cyl engine can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 12.0 seconds and has a maximum speed of 181 km/h. Only available option for this 1-liter petrol engine is a Front Wheel Drive with a 6 speed Manual Transmission.
  • 1.6 T-GDI is a 4-cyl 1.6-liter Turbocharged Petrol Engine with 177 hp and 265 nm of torque, this 4-cyl engine can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7,9 seconds and has a maximum speed of 205 km/h. Only available option for this 1.6- liter petrol engine is a Four Wheel Drive powertrain, with a smoother 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (Automatic).
